Deep Below

Book One: The Ran Protocol

Coming Late 2026

About the Book

When a research drone vanishes beneath an Antarctic glacier, Naval Intelligence Commander Mara Voss opens its classified final telemetry—and finds a handwritten note pointing to a program that doesn’t exist in any database.

What she uncovers is forty years of buried evidence suggesting that something older than human civilization may be living in Earth’s deep oceans.

And for ten years, it may have been trying to tell us something.

You are accelerating. Stop.

Deep Below is a grounded science-fiction thriller blending real-world science, military intelligence, ocean exploration, emerging technology, and first-contact mystery. Inspired by documented events and scientific questions, it asks what may be the most unsettling question of all:

What if the deepest parts of Earth’s oceans were never truly empty?

Inspired by documented events—including the disappearance of the autonomous underwater vehicle Ran, Congressional testimony on unidentified anomalous phenomena, and the measurable weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation—Deep Below is the first novel in a five-book series where every extraordinary possibility is grounded in real-world science and documented events.

A FATHER-AND-SON COLLABORATION

Deep Below is Michael and Gregory Beery’s first novel together—and the beginning of a planned five-book series.

The story began, quite simply, as a conversation between a father and a son.

Though separated by a continent, they shared an open sense of wonder about the secrets our world—and the wider universe—may still hold. They also shared a determination to follow the breadcrumbs of honest investigation wherever they might lead, approaching extraordinary questions with open minds while remaining grounded in evidence, science, and documented events.

Together, they found themselves returning to the same tantalizing possibility: What if humanity is closer than ever to a disclosure of truth that could change all our lives, monumentally?

Perhaps the answers are not beyond our reach.

Perhaps we simply need to know where to look.

That question became the creative foundation of Deep Below.

Michael brought a background in medicine, military service, emergency response, science, and a lifelong curiosity about the boundaries of human knowledge. Gregory brought the instincts of an actor and storyteller, his fascination with UAP phenomena and transparency, and the deeply personal perspective of an experience that changed how he viewed the possibility of Non-Human Intelligence.

From those different perspectives emerged a shared rule for the series: however extraordinary the story became, its foundations should remain connected to real science, documented events, emerging technology, and mysteries that actually exist.

The result is Deep Below: The Ran Protocol—a father-and-son exploration of what might happen if humanity finally discovers that the greatest mystery confronting us was never somewhere among the stars.

It was here all along.
